Climate Condition……

How is the climate affecting your life?? Perhaps it has made it a bit warmer in your city, or maybe it has made your town very dry. Well either way, climate has effected most of us. However, this harsh weather has made it so unbearably hot that this family is forced to leave their home!

In the frozen icecaps of Alaska, lives a family used to the bitter cold. However this family does not live in a house with electricity like us, but enjoy their days in the snow. this family is also not like you and I, because they are polar bears. These bears are used to living on solid glaciers of ice, but unfortuantly they are slowly being forced into the ocean. This family must learn to survive in the water, no thanks to the climate change. Although we usually just think about how we are effected by this changing climate, other families and species are even more greatly effected. So how can we prevent this?? Simple!  You see, climate is affected by green house gases which are pretty much Carbon Dioxide. But where do these CO2 gases come from?  About 82%, are from burning fossil fuels to generate electricity and power our cars. The remaining emissions are from methane from wastes in our landfills, and coal, as well as from industrial chemicals and other sources.

You can stop these Green House Gases by following these steps provided by YTV

Keeps room temperature at maximum of 21 degrees Celsius, especially during the coldest days of the year-

Reduces driving distances (in terms of kilometres) by 20 percent by walking, cycling and using public transport

Replaces regular light bulbs with energy efficient lamps

Uses power-saving settings on one’s computer at home and work

Shuts down all electrical equipment that is not in use, including equipment in standby mode, and switches off the lights in the rooms where no one is

We can all make a difference
